The Boxer and the Monk

Via The Wild Things of God, we learn that the epiphanies of Thomas Merton are being honored by the city of Louisville, KY, with a town square — at the corner of 4th and Muhammad Ali Blvd.

Perfect.

As I mentioned at The Wild Things of God blog, Muhammad Ali had his own epiphanies, as was witnessed by Malcolm and others. I think it’s healing and wonderful to honor the truly faithful who have followed revelation to the goal, thereby leaving a map for the rest of us to follow. In America, especially, it’s becoming more difficult to find such souls — even if they are out there, they’re not receiving the attention we need them to receive.
